美國在台協會處長孫曉雅拜訪蔡英文總統

「這次能夠回到台灣擔任美國在台協會的處長，是我無比的榮幸。如各位所知，美台關係正處於新高點，我很希望能與您及所有在場同仁直接合作，共同打造並強化美台關係，同時在各種不同面向上，以及您所提及的所有不同途徑上，一起向前邁進。再次感謝您，很榮幸能來此拜會，我期待親自與您密切合作。」

美國在台協會處長孫曉雅今天首度拜會蔡總統，雙方在會面中討論美台如何鞏固在區域及全球的合作。美國持續與台灣共同推動我們共享的民主價值、促進雙邊經濟與貿易連結、增進安全合作，並強化美台人民之間的情誼。無論是應對新冠疫情和氣候變遷等全球挑戰，還是推動創新和數位經濟，美台夥伴關係都是我們攜手合作、取得進展的絕佳例子！

“It is truly a delight for me and an honor to be back in Taiwan, this time, serving as the Director of the American Institute in Taiwan. As you all know, the U.S.-Taiwan relationship is at a high watermark, and I really do hope to be able to work directly with you, madam, and with all of our colleagues here to build and strengthen that relationship and to move forward in many different ways and in all the many different ways that you have mentioned. So thank you again, it’s an honor to be here and I look forward to working with you in person.”

AIT Director Oudkirk met with President Tsai for the first time today to discuss how the United States and Taiwan can continue to strengthen our cooperation in the region and around the globe. The U.S. continues to work with Taiwan as we advance our shared democratic values, improve our economic and trade links, further security cooperation, and strengthen ties between our two peoples. From partnering on shared global challenges like COVID-19 and climate change to promoting innovation and the digital economy, our partnership is a clear example of what we can accomplish together!
