Android Emergency Location Service (ELS)
AML (Advanced Mobile Location) is a format, co-developed by Google, British Telecom and EENA (European Emergency Number Association), in which emergency location from Android can be sent and received.
AML is implemented using ELS for Android devices. ELS is the way Google has chosen to deliver emergency location data for Android devices. ELS location data can be reported using Data SMS (which adheres to the AML protocol displayed below) or using HTTPS.

ELS will work on any Android device that has Google Play Services running Android OS version 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and up.

Is ELS available in my location?
Our goal is to launch ELS in as many countries as possible. Today, ELS is fully deployed in

- Croatia,
- Denmark,
- Estonia,
- Finland,
- Iceland,
- Ireland,
- Lithuania,
- Moldova,
- Netherlands,
- New Zealand,
- Norway,
- Portugal,
- Romania,
- Slovenia,
- Sweden,
- United Arab Emirates,
- United Kingdom;
and partially deployed in a handful of other countries, such as Austria (all emergency numbers except 112 and 133, which are managed by the federal government), Germany, and USA. More details available from the annual EENA AML Report Card.
